Mary and her sisters are sitting in the back of a Kenmeri Skyline. At least, that’s what I thought when I saw this photograph for the first time. But who are they? I saved it for later and fast forward a couple of years and decided to run the photo through Google Bard. That turned out to be a nice surprise!
Google Bard identified the three women as Ran, Sue and Miki from the Japanese idol group the Candies (キャンディーズ). Here’s a photo of them in reverse order:
I’d like to zoom in on that right top corner. Right behind behind Miki. It seems the owner of the car left the protective plastic on the interior panels.
Unfortunately, the original source from this photo is gone, so I won’t be able to give some context around it. I did find another photo of the Candies in the backseat of another taxi:
If you are curious what their music sounds like, it’s basically early 1970s J-Pop mixed with disco. It sounds a lot like Pink Lady.
