After yesterdays TOMs Corolla Group 5 I was searching for Group 5 cars and found this Tomica Gazelle.
Wait a minute! Isn’t that supposed to read Tomica Skyline Super Silhouette replica?
No, it isn’t! This is all about the Tomica Nissan Gazelle S12 Super Silhouette replica:

Yes, someone made a replica of the Tomica Skyline Super Silhouette racer in the early 90s but used a Nissan Gazelle S12 body for that. He even included all correct livery… WTF?!

Family Album Treasures: Super Silhouette daughter

One of my favorite Minkara feeds is by Restive Horse who owns a very nice Nissan Skyline DR30 and a cute little daughter and likes to post about both of them. Some time ago he posted one about his daughter with the Tomica Skyline Super Silhouette:

If I was able to view the very same car with my son I’d like to have a picture of my Super Silhouette Son as well! ;)

Family Album Treasures: Group C

Back in 1983 the Group C races (prototypes) were the main event at the Fuji International Speedway with its smaller brother Group 5 (Super Silhouette) being the teaser for the big race. Not surprisingly the Group 5 cars were way more popular than the Group C as they were looking like the cars in real life. One of the exceptions to this was the Hasemi Skyline Group C endurance racer that looked awfully similar to its Group 5 counterpart:

Same engine (570hp turbo charged LZ20b) but then with a lower, wider and more agressive looking bodywork! I would certainly pose in front of that as a little kid!

Skyline R30 pre production models

I was watching some old Skyline documentaries and stumbled upon this little piece of footage where Shinichiro Sakurai sits inside a wooden pre production model of the Skyline R30:

You can see the lines of the coupe emerging into the real prototypes and from the prototypes to the Skyline RS Formula Silhouette. Nice!

The question is: what is that BMW 7 series doing on the test track??

Seibu Keisatsu Machine RS34

Suppose you are a big Seibu Keisatsu fan and want a comfortable daily ride, what would you choose?

Minkara user Ken chose to drive his ER34 as a daily driver and turn the car into a Seibu Keisatsu Machine RS DR30 lookalike!

4Valve DOHC GT-Turbo intercooler
Even the writing on the side is done in retro styling of the Skyline RS-Turbo: his ER34 reads 4valve DOHC GT-Turbo intercooler on the place where normally the RS-Turbo writing is!

And the whole car is painted in the red and black panda scheme of the Tomica Skyline that was copied over to the RS lineup.

So, to complete his Machine RS34 he also has a set of sunglasses which looks like the ones Chief Daimon had in the Seibu Keisatsu series. (???)
