WW Kick-off 2013: the ubiquitous Nissan Skylines

I remember meetings where once a Nissan Skyline entered the place it immediately drew all attention because seeing one was so rare! Nowadays it is actually the opposite: nobody turns their heads anymore and “exotics” like a Silvia S15 tend to gather crowds of people.

It is actually a bit of a shame as this Skyline was rather interesting:

It looks like your average Skyline R33 GTST with a ridiculously oversized intercooler, but if you get closer…

WW Kick-off 2013: it started to snow

I’ll continue where I left off: right at this Honda Civic.

For some unknown reason the whole meeting was overcrowded by Civics and for another unknown reason the roads around the meetup were clogged up with high revving VTECs. Once is funny, a couple of time is nice, but after several hours it just gets plain annoying.

Anyway, let’s talk a bit about this Civic: I think the IKEA background suits this Civic. This Civic does not seem to have a clear theme and is a bit of various popular parts together. Take a bra / nose protector, ground scrapingly low coilover set, wide steelies and you are done with it.

Just found this excellent blog through one of the users in my Youtube subscriptions: it simply is bringing you brochures/catalogues, commercials, leaflets, tiny small details or just anything related to the Skyline!

Commercial time: Kens parents get married

There had to be something before Ken and Mary, right? They must have come from somewhere and it probably wasn’t a Nissan Skyline that gave birth to them…
Ken's parents get married in a Skyline S50
The Nissan Skyline C10 was the third generation Skyline and the first car released after the Nissan and Prince Motor Company merger and the fourth Skyline model became famous for its Ken and Mary commercials. Before merger the Skyline range belonged to the Prince Motor Company and I personally consider the Skyline as a manly car. So the Prince Motor Company must have been the parents of Ken while Nissan must have been the parents of Mary.

Prince featured Ken’s parents their commercial for the second Skyline model (S50):

So now we know that Kens parents loved skiing and were god fearing christians. ;)
