2024 is here! – Happy New Year

It has happened: 2023 rolled over and now it’s 2024! Happy New Year!

What better way to celebrate New Year than with a few more AI-generated automotive artwork? I used the phrase “1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R with New Year fireworks. “Happy New Year” in bold white letters near the top.” to generate the following image:

Happy New Year with AI-generated 1992 Skyline GT-R
Happy New Year with an AI-generated 1992 Skyline GT-R

That certainly does look like your typical Nissan Skyline GT-R mashup! I see bits and pieces of the R32, R33 and R34. The headlights and grill are clearly R34 items, but the side markers are R32. The bumper is clearly an R34 item. Also, the body shape behind the windshield is R32. But it is uncanny how well AI is able to render a Skyline that is universally accepted as a Skyline! (does that make sense?)

I did generate another one:

Happy New Year with AI-generated 1992 Skyline GT-R
Happy New Year with AI-generated 1992 Skyline GT-R

Again, anyone looking at this car will instantly recognize it as a Skyline. However, this one is a bit weirder than the previous one. The headlights have the R34 items mashed up with the R33 ones. The grill is also somewhere between the two generations. The bumper is clearly R34-inspired. It is also weird that it just says “Happy” and not “Happy New Year”. Maybe the New and Year are rendered behind the Skyline?

Any thoughts for the upcoming year?

I don’t really have any idea what the upcoming year will bring. On one hand, I’m happy I restarted the blogs as I once again have the creative freedom and write my thoughts and observations down. However, it does take some toll to keep the blogging going. I have more than enough ideas, but simply not enough time. That’s why I’m considering taking it a bit easier in the upcoming year and, perhaps, lowering the number of posts to three to four per week. I’ll also take a few days off in early January, so I expect postings will start again from January 8th onwards.

The March-athon will continue!

I will continue with the March-athon throughout January. My curiosity for AI will also remain a thing and I’m really curious how that evolves over the next year. Finally, more content of my Carina will follow as there are many plans I have for the car!

The Carina Saga will continue!

Happy New Year and let’s hope it’s a good one!

Happy (belated) New Year 2021!

I wish you all a happy belated New Year for 2021!

I shamelessly used Akio Watanabe‘s Carinazoku to make it a cheerful post!

2020 reflection

Last year my New Years resolutions were to post more on this blog. I did actually manage to post about six times but Covid really made it impossible to do more. What had the most impact to this shortage of time was the fact that I was forced to work from home since mid-March 2020. This meant I lost my commute time which I used to write blogs, make videos, post on socials.

At the same time we had two lock downs in 2020, which means with two kids at home I have to do homeschooling with my wife. And then in the evening we both have to compensate for the loss of worktime so there is hardly any time left to do anything.

But there is good news! First of all I started to scan all AE86 brochures I own, touch them up and translate them. This is a long process that is still a long way from getting finished. At the same time I decided to write a book, but like the scanning of brochures that’s also a long way from getting finished. But both are something I can do between stuff and stop immediately whenever I have to. (unlike editing videos and such)

2021 resolutions

I don’t think my resolutions for the upcoming year will be any different. I’ll try to pick up the blog posting again. One thing I love to do on Instagram is what I call doomscrolling. I basically scroll endlessly through all those Japanese rusty vehicles posted on Instagram and I really enjoy doing that. So who knows, maybe I need to post the best of those here and link to the original posters?

Happy New Year!

Happy New year! I wish you all the best for 2020 and I hope this year will bring me more (free) time to spend on my hobbies!

Youtube and Car Mashups website

Talking about spending time on my hobbies: as you may have heard through one of my youtube videos: in 2019 I created a website called Car Mashups and this ate up about all spare time that I have left in my busy life. I have only posted three videos to the Youtube channel in 2019, while I posted 20 in the year prior to that. My three year old daughter skips her afternoon naps, so no more spare time during my daddy-days. All that is left is my commute to work time and all that got dedicated to the Car Mashups website this year.

Car Mashups website basically is a website publishing car mashups. I’ve created a generator that will mash up two different cars into a new one. An example of such craftsmanship can be seen below with this mashup of a Nissan Skyline GTX-E C110 and a Nissan Cherry X-1R KE10:

Car Mashups: Nissan Skyry

Yes I travel by public transport and this means I can spend about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours a day to whatever I like. Since the Car Mashups site required many cars to be added I dedicated my commute time to this project. I’ve now entered a equilibrium where I think sufficient cars are present to mashup to new cars. I will add new ones, but at a much lower pace than before.

Downloadable coloring books

I’ve also made a couple of downloadable coloring books available through the AEU86 shop: the Bosozoku Style Coloring Book in downloadable format, the first Car Mashups Mazbaru SA60 Coloring Book (Mazda Savanna RX7 + Subaru 360) and the second Car Mashups Mitsuota Garina AMG Surf Coloring Book. An example of such a coloring book would be:

New years resolution

That means I can spend more time on the other hobbies of mine, including creating Youtube videos and content for this site. Or at least, that’s basically my New Years resolution for 2020! So if you read this posting January 2021 and this is the top post on my blog, something went horribly wrong. ;)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year and the best wishes for 2015!
Fireworks
2014 was a great year and I hope 2015 will be even better!

Just to brighten up your life a bit more, here is an Initial D fireworks simulation I found a few months ago:

Don’t ask my why, but DjJavi5x thought it would be an awesome idea to combine Eurobeat, a Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86, a Nissan Skyline BNR32 and fireworks. For a New Years celebration I totally agree. ;)

Merry Chistmas and a happy New Year!

It almost became a unwritten tradition to post a picture of a certain Toyota Carina with my X-mas wishes and last year was a bit sad. So I decided not to get as corny as my neighbor who sends me a Christmas card including her and her dogs and decided to post this photo I took of a Silvia instead:
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
So merry Chistmas and a happy New Year!
