Remembering Japanese cars from the past

Commerical time: Subaru Leone x2

I’m fully aware that my Subaru postcount is way below the Toyota and Nissan postcount! So let’s do something about that:

This 1982 second generation Leone advertisement shows exactly why you should buy a 4WD Leone: as a professional baseball player (Tatsunori Hara) you really need it to get to second base with Hiromi Iwasaki!

Commerical time: Honda See are EX

It is almost two weeks since I last posted a commercial, so how about these CR-X commercials? They surely are typical early 80s commercials with their music by Salon Music and their comic like photo animation!

The name CRX was even more cleverly chosen than the, already famous, SX designation. The song pronounces it clearly as See are EX. Now guess what you could get if you bought this car??

Another one:

And another one with different music:

Now compare that to the Japanese CR-Z commercial:

It looks like they still like the copy-paste functionality and the retro-electro music could almost be 80s if it weren’t for the voice pitch tuning…

Commerical time: We, motor sports

The last bunch Hide7031 posted so far are the commercials for the Nissan Skyline R31 series. Especially the third commercial shows its 80s brilliance: We, motor sports. That’s about everything you need to know!

The other commercials continue with this catchphrase and do we actually see the 80s Ken and Mary jumping in the fifth commercial?

Commerical time: Ken and Mary love the Skyline Japan

We all know the Nissan Skyline C210 was better known as the Skyline Japan. What we never saw so far were the commercials featuring a Ken and Mary driving the C210 while Mary states she loves Japan.

There are some gems between these commercials: the helicopter commercial is quite good and the very un-ken&mary 2000GT commercial is also very 80s. Funny to see how Ken and Mary never seem to age at all!

Commerical time: very sexy Datsun Sunny B210

Jeremy Clarkson once declared the Nissan Sunny to be the worst car in the world, ever. Obviously I don’t agree with him because we all know the Alfa Romeo Arna was worse! Anyway, to prove Clarkson wrong I’ll show you how sexy a Datsun Sunny B210 can be:

I must add that anything is more sexy than that huge bloke stripping down to his stubbies, so compared to him even Clarkson would have been sexy! ;)

If you still have no idea what this commercial was for back in 2006, you might get some clues in this commercial
