It has been almost four years since I found a video of a RHD to LHD converted AA63 in Peru and it looks like it exchanged owners again:
This Carina also has been converted, looks identical (except for the wheels) and its (new) owner seems to be very happy with it! ;)

A few weeks back I found a video of a Carina TA62 on Youtube where it stated that it had received a 1G-E swap so I got interested in the project, especially as it is an Hungarian project.
So I commented on the video and received an email from the owner with links to these photos.

The photo was taken at the Mooneyes event in Motegi.
Reminds me of the gold colored Carina van my dad used to own in the mid 80s…

Two weeks ago I already treated you on a KA67v drifting on Suzuka circuit and this week I found an AA63 sedan doing a fast grip-style lap on a very famous circuit:
The video looks a bit wobbly but I guess that’s due to the anti-shock software in the camera.

Back in September 1982 the 3T-GTE powered Carina TA63 succeeded the 18R-G powered RA63 and during the whole production run this Carina was considered as the top of the line. The 3T-GTE propelled the Carina into almost supercar-like performance!
Nowadays the 160hp 3T-GTE performance resembles more like the average 1.8 litre engine in your Ford Focus wagon and I can really understand this TA63 was in need for a new and better performing engine.
