Carina Sightings: 1981 Carina GL TA60

Last Sunday I saw an ad appear on Marktplaats offering a rare metallic green Carina GL TA60 for sale:

In the Netherlands the GL is a rare package where the rear seats have the headrests, more comfortable seats, storage compartments at the back of the front seats in the front doors and in the luggage compartment separate compartments for jack and tools, It doesn’t sound like much, but if you take one peek into my trunk you will know why you need seperate compartments for your tools. ;)

The interior still looks great considering it is already 30 years old:

However there appears to be a small repair patch on the passenger seat…

The car has 127k on the odometer:

And apparently they love the odd numbers on it as well.

Unfortunately when I checked the ad for the second time it had gone already. So either someone got really lucky or they decided not to sell the car after all. Thanks to Google cache I was still able to share it. :)

Carina Sightings: Rob GTZs old red Carina GT-R

I wanted to post these two pictures of Rob GTZ’s old beautiful red Carina GT-R for a while now:

Rob GTZs red Carina GT-R AA63

He put his GT-R for sale two years ago and back then I already found it a beauty! He sold the car and the new owner freshened up the car and shared the pictures with him! Marvelous job done!

Even though I love Work Equipe wheels I do think these new rims look much better on the Carina:

Makes me jealous I’m not living in New Zealand where all the great Japanese cars end up when they reach the Japanese retirement age…

Carina Sightings: Gymkhana Carina TA63

I’ve seen a lot of (ab)uses for the Carina so far, but I’ve never saw one attending in a real Gymkhana before. That was till I spotted this Gymkhana Carina TA63 on Minkara:

As you can see: the owner has humor. :D

You can see some more action in one of his videos:

He’s quite good at it! And the video even featured a few “bloopers” in the end! :)

Also a notable thing are his smoked tail lights (zenki). Really suits the car and maybe I’ll try to create my own when I can get my hands on a second set…

Carina Sightings: pink shakotan Carina AA63

For my other blog Bosozoku Style I regularly visit various bosozoku style related sites. On AllJapanExpress I came across this pink shakotan Carina AA63:

Nicely lowered, overfenders and SSR Mk I rims at the rear. Just a few mods away from becoming a kaido racer! :)

I’m not sure what is worse on this Carina, the color or the bodywork:

Somehow I’m relieved this car did not have huge spoilers, oil coolers and a bamboo spears exhaust, but on the other hand it would have been fun to see such a thing. ;)
