Carina Sightings: Carina Firevan at Hellaflush FISCO

The Carina Firevan footage I found earlier was shot at the Hellaflush meeting at FISCO organized by Fatlace! @Fatlace: you guys did a great job!

Anyway, I did find some photos of the meeting at both Nori Yaro and Speedhunters and thought it would be nice to share them with you. I especially like the one shot by Alexi from Nori Yaro:

The mise en scene has something omnious…

But the photo by Dino Dalle Carbonare of Speedhunters is a very nice one as well: Continue reading

Carina Sightings: Carina Firevan at FISCO

My heart skipped a beat or two when I opened up Youtube today! A video of the infamous Carina Firevan!
AE86lan uploaded a video of the Firevan shot earlier today at Fuji International Speedway (FISCO) and you will get a very very good insight in how amazing the Firevan actually is and how much it has been changed in the past year!

Just look at how much the van was lowered: its diff and exhaust are almost scraping the road. Its 3SGE BEAMS blacktop with ITBs is still an amazing sight under that hood. Another change is that the driver seat has been moved backwards between the front and rear door, the steeringwheel was made longer and the pedalbox have been moved back as well, I only wonder how you can shift if the shifter is still at the normal spot… It appears as if the owner either wishes to attend drag races with the Carina van or could this be a new automotive trend?

Carina Sightings: rare Carina RA63 for sale!

The 18R-GEU engine was inherited from the two previous generations of Carinas (like the Über Rare Carina RA45), so naturally it found its way into the new A60 generation. But not for long: Toyota struck a deal with Yamaha for a couple of new engines including the 4A-GE (replacing the 2T-GEU) and the 3T-GTE (replacing the 18R-GEU) engines for their high performance models.

In october 1982 the 18R-GEU was replaced first by the 3T-GEU and the 2T-GEU was replaced in may 1983. In the end the Carina RA63 has only been sold for thirteen months in total…

This Carina RA63 only covered 125k kilometers, so that means at least an overhaul for this 18R-GEU engine: Continue reading

Carina Sightings: Panda Carina coupe AA63

After last weeks sad news some good news: I got word from Arpad that his coupe was spotted with different licenseplates on it, so there is hope he will be reunited with the car! Nevertheless, if you spot it somewhere: don’t hesitate to contact me!

Now to get back on topic: I found this immaculate Panda Carina GT-R coupe for sale on Auctions Yahoo:
Panda Carina coupe GT-R AA63

The buy-me-now price is at 1000000 yen (13000 US dollar) a bit steep but you will get a whole lot of car for that money!

First of all the car only travelled 110000 kilometer so far, the body is practially rust free (and in very good shape) and is still in its original panda paint with colorcode 041 (Super White III, only available on late models). Second of all the car features an oldskool period correct urethane lip and louvre rear window.

The Carina is lowered with a short stroke set and 12K/8K springs at the front and rear and a two way LSD has been fitted. Unfortunately the mouth watering deep dished Longchamps are not included in the deal…

What is included in the deal is this 20V 4AGE blacktop:

Modified with direct ignition and a Freedom ECU.

Additionally the car also has an AC and powersteering. However the condenser of the AC has broken down, so it can be quite pricey to get it to work again.

I still think 1 Million yen is a bit high for the whole package… But in case you are interested in placing a bid (currently at 400K yen), you can find it here: Panda Carina coupe Auctions Yahoo
