Last friday Michael from Retro Classics posted some pictures of the New Zealand Nationals 2010, including a Carina AA63 coupe going head to head with a Corolla AE70 hardtop:

The coupe features a set of SSR Longchamps at front and some less wide rims at the rear (probably the extra set of tires). It looks very good with the Longchamps, so a mental note to myself: buy a set whenever you can get them! ;)
Dunno what’s up with the hood, but it looks loose on the picture above and fastened on the picture below:

Somehow the Carina single headlights look much better on a coupe than on a sedan!
You can find more pictures of the Carina, Corolla and many other great classics (like a 810910 Bluebird hardtop!) on Retro Classics blog or at their Flickr page.
I found this 4AGTE converted AA60 Carina coupe from Tawau (Malaysia) on Youtube some time ago:
Unfortunately there is no more footage of that car than this video. However you can view a lot of other cool TE71/KE70/AE86 Corollas and AT141 Coronas on Fookiun’s Youtube page.
Yes, two Carinas and a Corona doing a tandem drift!
Well, today you can see this exact picture in motion in this video:
The white Carina sedan is an AA63, the black Carina coupe is also an AA63 and the Corona is an AT142. That lovely sound is from the squealing the tires and those three 4AGEs screaming down that corner! I love it! :)
BTW: Currently I have a different wallpaper (to be precise: an orange Luxembourgh Levin), but I think this is a good reason to switch back to this one! ;)
This car chase video actually starts with a Nissan Laurel C230 chasing a pedestrian. Apparently this woman is very scared of the Laurel (or its driver) and fakes being hit by the Abunai Deka Nissan Leopard.
After that an exciting chase between the Leopard and the Laurel starts!
A lot of cars can be seen in the background: at 0:28 a brand new Toyota Celica AT160 can be seen (parked next to an A60 Carina sedan!) and a few seconds later an A60 Carina coupe parked in the far background. And let’s not forget the white Honda Today at 0:56! Another white Carina A60 coupe can be seen at 2:03, a KE70 van at 2:06 and as a bonus a 300ZX Z31 at the traffic light!
I found this great looking Carina SG Coupe AA60 on Cardomain:
Carina SG Coupe AA60
According to its owner the car was produced in 1988 and imported to Malaysia in 1991. Being produced in 1988 means it has been catted with a sedan VIN since the coupe was discontinued in june 1985 or it was imported and put on papers with a different build date… Either way it is still looking great for its age! ;)

What I really love are those deep rims! They make the car look a lot more aggresive!

I didn’t know the AA60 came with a digidash as well, but apparently it could have been ordered as an option. It must be original since its redline is set at 6000rpm.
Also a very nice feature according to the owner: when the car reach 105+km/h, the dash board will ring the warning “ding dong” continues until u slow down… -_-. Definitely want one now! :D

And what is under its bonnet nowadays? Its 1.5 liter 3A-U has been swapped for a 4AGE in june 2009! :)
Some time ago I posted a really nice Carina GT Coupe TA45 which I found at Japan Vintage. I also found a Carina GT-R Coupe AA63 on their website but never actually posted it…
Exhaust is not that special, but you can see from its bumper and taillights that it is the late type model. You could also have deducted that from the fact that it is an AA63! ;)
I also uploaded the video that was on the advertisement:
Nice TRD sticker on the side, but most probably only the springs and shocks are TRD.
Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 on Japan Vintage Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 on Japan Vintage And the interior looks pretty clean. However there are some dashboard parts missing: Right speaker cover is missing, pedals and steering wheel have been swapped, an ugly foglight switch on the center console and an ashtray has been mounted on the drivers door… Not as immaculate as the interior of the TA45 coupe…
All in all a very nice looking car. Obviously this car has been tuned for street usage which left its marks on the car itself. The price is 4300 dollars which is way too much for a 24 year old 168000km car with powersteering and aircon.
