Remembering Japanese cars from the past
Now I would be very surprised if I found my garage on the front of a model kit… Same happened to AE86 specialist Tube Garage when they saw this Aoshima model kit with a Sprinter Trueno AE86 on it:

It was not the big fallus which I saw first, not even with the big red circle and lines around it, but what I saw first was this:

Apparently I have more interest in the Initial D Sprinter Trueno diecast than to sexual objects. Hmmm…. Is that a bad thing? Big Banpei FAIL?! [???]

It kind of reminded me of the AE86 seats I tried to clean up… Not that they were this moldy, but believe me: they were moldy enough!
Back then I was very brave and removed all metal rings holding the seat together. Thinking about me removing those rings still hurts because of the blisters I got. Then I removed the cloth and washed it 3 or 4 times, both by hand and in the washing machine. In the end the seat looked cleaner than when I got them, but when I compared it to the dirty seats which were already in my Trueno I decided to keep those: they were cleaner than the ones I had washed!
Well at least I learned how the disassemble and reassemble both AE86 seats. ;)

Cannabolic (user on AEU86) found this video on Youtube showing a sideways impact on a Toyota AE86:
It is a bit hard to see, but the car is a LHD zenki Trueno 2 door coupe. I assume that it is a USDM Corolla SR5 since it has black bumpers. Not much is left of the position the driver is supposed to be in, so side impact on this speed is not recommendable! What did I drive up to two years ago? A silver 4AGE converted US SR5 2 door coupe! Damn! That’s exactly the same car!
What about its source? Maybe it was a promotion video for OMP roll cages? More likely it is an original 80s US crash test before the car is allowed to be sold on the market? That leave us the question why a sideways impact on high speed is part of this test?
Of course: they could also have wanted to find out if the car was safe enough for its main purpose 20 years later: going sideways! Clearly going that way leaves a lot less crushable area than going in a straight line. ;)
Funny, within 15 minutes I encountered images made by me were reused by someone else. Of course I’m doing the same thing over and over, but never encountered this twice on two different sites within such a short period. ;)
First I noticed (thanks to HR blog!) the Czech website 86ers.org using the picture of my 15 inch Celica Supra MK2 rims in their wheel guide.

Then within 15 minutes I encountered someone reusing my old avatar which I used on AEU86 when I still owned my Trueno. The picture contains the right taillight of my old Trueno 2 door coupe with the Sprinter Trueno sticker above it. The image originally was meant as a showcase for the OEM AE86 reproduction stickers but later on used as my avatar after I got bored by the AE86 vs R34 avatar.

Even though it is coincidence, I still think it’s rather odd…
But don’t get me wrong here: please use and re-use my pictures, just like I would do with yours! ;)

If you look closely you can see it is a scale model! To be more precise: it is a 1/18 scale model by Autoart. The replica is the first version of the car, so it still looks stock and has the first generation 4AGE in it:

The engine has been done perfectly: I couldn’t really find a big flaw in it. Only thing was that the tvis intake is a bit big for the 4AGE.
Another perfect detail: the sunroof liner:

HR blog already mentioned it as an Initial D trivia: there is no sunroof on the car, but there is sunroof lining inside the car. All I can remember is seeing that somewhere during Stage 4, but not before that. I can’t remember seeing Keiichi Tsuchiya’s car having the same thing, so it must be either done on purpose or an error. Maybe it is somewhere in the comics so I’ll have to re-read all my comics then. ;)

Maybe I’m exaggerating it a bit, but at least this scale model is just as good as the IRL replica Impulse made! ;)
