Remembering Japanese cars from the past

Hilarious: Bunta drives a Toyota Picnic!

What would Bunta Fujiwara drive in 2008?

A Toyota Ipsum (called Picnic outside Japan):

Funny he didn’t buy a Toyota Estima because the Ipsum is FWD and the Estima RWD (MR).

The Japanese Estima may be a bit less well equiped than the American supercharged version, but it sure does have potential:

Manji drifting on the straight!!! :D

So the big question is: why would Bunta Fujiwara favor the Ipsum above the Estima then? IMO I think it is quite natural of Bunta to do such a thing: Takumi first learns to drive the Trueno AE86 (FR layout) really hard. Then he gets beaten by Bunta in an AWD Impreza, so he has to learn to drive that AWD really hard as well. Logically Bunta would then have to beat Takumi with a FWD, so what better car to totally humiliate Takumi with???
Right: the Toyota Ipsum!

Edit: video doesn’t work anymore, so here is a picture to compensate that:

Hilarious: Happy Meal drift (better than Bunta!)

Now this is a real happy meal: this guy eats his Mc Donalds meal while drifting the Ebisu North course! Not only does he eat it on the straights, but he also does it Bunta style and picks up and returns his milkshake into the cupholder! Now that is EPIC!

Now if only he could pick up his order on the drive through this way! :D

Also check out his extensive (and humorous) report on this trick on Youtube.

Hilarious: Kamen Norida (parody)

This Kamen Rider parody called Kamen Norida is so hilarious: he rides a 50cc moped, he dresses up like a monkey, saves plants and trees from dehydration and he fights giant birds, like this Giant duck, by dancing silly and doing flying kicks:

Yes, the duck appears to be joining some nazi lookalike and he, apparently, is very evil! As you all know from other tokusatsu: all eye-patched people are evil. ;)

But of course Norida will kick (actually swing) the Duck’s butt. And of course the duck will play nasty tricks like turning Noridas friends into ducklings! WTF!? :D
Of course justice will prevail and the giant Duck will be roast. That’s how about every episode goes…

I really tried to find out what a Norida is, but I failed on finding the meaning of the word… I did find a very humorous passage on the Japanese Kamen Norida wikipedia entry describing it:
People modify the “Norida” also will be remodeled, Hayato character stone (which is converted into a man’s answering machine after) is rescued by escape before remodeling the brain of justice “mask Norida “as determined to fight for world peace
So Norida it actually means the feeling of justice?
No it does not: I did find out on a Brazilian forum that it actually is a wordplay on the name of the actor (Noritake Kinashi).

Update: I also found a Youtube video describing a bit more about this series. Apparently the group called Tunnels consists out of Takaaki Ishibashi (石橋 貴明 ) and Noritake Kinashi (木梨 憲武 ) and were both from Tokyo. They did the parody on Kamen Rider without the permission of Toei. It doesn’t state if Toei actually tried to stop them or not.

If you wish to watch more, you can find almost every episode here!

Hilarious: Deka renzoku cosplay

I’ve posted something about hilarious Cosplay (????) in the past and this one is just as funny as that posting: Deka renzoku cosplay! In other words: police series cosplay!
Deka renzoku cosplay: Seibu Keisatsu
Deka renzoku cosplay: Seibu Keisatsu

Yes, that’s the old Chief Daimon next to the Nissan 280ZX alright!

Deka renzoku cosplay: Seibu Keisatsu
Deka renzoku cosplay: Seibu Keisatsu

And what about his double next to the Gloria 430 then?

And people not only took characters from Seibu Keisatsu, but also from Abunai Deka:
Deka renzoku cosplay: Abunai Deka
Deka renzoku cosplay: Abunai Deka

Wait, is that detective Takayama next to the Nissan Leopard??

Deka renzoku cosplay: Abunai Deka
Deka renzoku cosplay: Abunai Deka

Yes it is!!

Dunno if this form of cosplay actually is called Deka Renzoku Cosplay, but I kind of found the words Deka (police) and renzoku (recurring series) together on another site and liked a combination of that! ;)

Hilarious: the LL Brothers

Last week I posted the Mark II Grande with MC Hammer pants (aka harem pants) and on facebook Brad Hogan commented with a link to this video of the LL Brothers:

The LL Brothers was a TV show duo in the early 90s consisting of Takanori (older brother) and Masaya (younger brother) performing synchronous dance like shown in the video above.

They did immitate a lot of popular US rappers, like for instance MC Hammer or Will Smith as show in this video:

Observe their TV Intro:

Apparently they were very popular back then and they somehow managed to convince someone to create three (!) films! Insane! :D
