DOTS: 1980 Crown MS112 Super Saloon

During one of my early morning cycles to work I encountered a familiar face that I saw a few months before: a Toyota Crown S110!

The car is a 1980 Toyota Crown Super Saloon and was delivered originally to the Netherlands. That is quite rare these days since most older cars seem to be imported from either Germany or Switzerland who have a bit less classic friendly laws nowadays.

In this case it turned out to be a Crown MS112 featuring the 2.8 liter 5M-EU engine.

The car itself looked immaculate which is very surprising for an original Dutch car.

The car features an automatic gearbox which should give it the smoothest ride you can imagine.

And later that day I found out it is actually for sale, but the sales ad on Marktplaats has already gone. So I pressume it has been sold now.

Reminds me of the fact that the brown Toyota Crown LS110 I posted some time ago is also for sale:

BTW: The reason for its high price is the fact that it is a diesel powered car.

DOTS: 1978 Cressida RX30

Actually it is not really a Down On The Street entry since I did not find it parked alongside of the road. I actually visited the owner of this car with the intention of buying it!

The car is in excellent condition, especially if you realize this car is 33 years old. I did not find a spec of rust under the car, nor inside the fenders! The only rust on it was on one of the rear fenders and the other rear fender had a small paint problem. Also there is a dent in the roof you don’t see it immediately and it is easy to fix when you already are respraying the rear fenders… :)

Driving it was a hoot: it drives way more relaxed than the Carina. It also feels lower and I immediately got the urge to cut its springs and lower it even more (with a bunch of deep dish steelies)! Also the (almost) JDM fender mirror are something else and make the car look perfect!

Why I didn’t buy it? Well my wife told me I had to sell the Carina if I wanted to buy the Cressida. Very sane thought but a very unfortunate for the Cressida: I can’t sell my Carina!

The color may look a bit weird, but I haven’t been able to get the colors of the Cressida right. Somehow it always is either too yellow or too vale. See also the photo I took of the car at the JAF2011:

The color is somewhere inbetween…

If you are interested in the car, let me know and I’ll forward your inquiries to the owner.

DOTS: 1993 Mitsubishi Mirage

For the non-European readers this Mitsubishi Mirage (aka Colt and Cyborg) Coupe ‘CC’ may not be that special, but for us Europeans it is quite an unfamiliar car.

The two door coupe was basically a model between the 3 door hatch and the four door sedan, but never made it to the European shores. This blue 1993 Mirage has been on the Continental shores since 1994, so it only spent one year on the other side of the ocean.

For us it is a bit weird to see a bootlid instead of hatchback between these two rear lights!

But apart from that it looks pretty much the same as an ordinary Colt ‘CC’.

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part seventeen)

It has been a while since I posted up some Miatas. I definitely wanted to take loads pictures of Miatas in California, but since they were so ubiquitous I stopped after a while and in the end only have to post up…

First of all this Silver MX5 NC, caught at the tramstop in San Franciso:

The reason it was shot this irregular was that my colleague (who I was travelling with) was complaining he would be in the picture. So enjoy “Jake” and his silvery shoes. ;)

Second of all this green Miata, parked in the parkinglot of the conference center:

A Celia RA42 was parked right next to it. I’ll post that in one of the next down on the street postings.

DOTS: 1985 Nissan 300ZX Z31

I did post up a Nissan 300ZX before, but that was the Z32. Last week I happened to take a shortcut through town and found this almost-like-new 1985 Z31 parked in a narrow street:

The car has been imported a year ago into the Netherlands and presumably it was hauled all the way from Switzerland. At least that’s where most Dutch classics are imported from nowadays…

Personally I’d say this 300ZX is almost the ideal car for me:

It has a powerful enough engine, 80s lines and a T-Bar roof. Only problem I have with it is that it is currently seriously overpriced…
