DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 7)

Time to hunt some more Miatas! Or actually some MX5s! And to be more specific: only NAs (first model)!

I spotted this red MX5 next to the trafficlight when I was cycling to work. Not much to tell about except that it was driven by a blonde elderly woman.

The blue MX5 is a bit more interesting:

Since the owners have both motorcycles and presumably another daily driver this MX5 only sits on their driveway. Even though it looks hardly used it appeared to be in excellent condition. It also got an aftermarket exhaust, rims but the rest of it looked stock. Nice tourer though! :)

Now the silver one:

It is a lowered MX5 with some Rota Flights rims (Racing Hart CPF Tune R knock offs). Since I was driving I stopped the car next to the sidewalk and took the picture without looking through the finder, too bad I left the camera on manual focus and didn’t notice it at all.

Did come back a few days later but couldn’t find the car anymore… :(

DOTS: Toyota AE86, Mitsubishi Evo minus One and Ronal Teddybears

I was looking at old (digital) photographs I took years ago and actually found out I was already shooting DOTS from 2003 onwards! Take for instance this Mitsubishi Lancer:

Yes, that is indeed an Evo wing on its tail. However the Lancer itself dates before the whole Lancer Evo lineup, so I guess this is a Lancer Evo minus One! :D

Everyone on the interwebs already saw pictures of the Ronal teddybear rims, but did you actually see one IRL?

I did spot these Ronal Teddybears in 2005 and took a picture with my phonecam (even crappier than my crapcam!) to inspire my brother… Well he refused to even think about putting teddybears under his 121! :D

To prove you can actually spot really nice cars in the wild:

I chased down this AE86 when I had a day off and I was just on my way to buy a Canon EOS 350D digicam in my own AE86. The owner drove quite quickly during rush hour but I managed to follow him through traffic. Finally had a word with him and the guy didn’t even know what kind of car he was driving. His brother sold him the car and if I was interested I could buy it from him. So having a lot of money burning in my pocket I was really tempted to buy it…

It ended that the guy wanted too much money: apparently chasing someone in traffic is not a good basis for negotiations over the price of a car. I ended up buying the EOS 350D instead and still don’t regret buying the camera over this hachi. ;)

DOTS: tuned Nissan 200SX S14

Last week I posted the Nissan 200SX S14 at the end of the winter and now suddenly it has been tuned and fixed up again:

Nah, just kidding! I spotted this identically colored Nissan 200SX S14 last summer somewhere in an industrial zone. After this single shot (crapcam died) I only saw it occasionally and each time I was in a hurry or I didn’t have a camera with me…

The 200SX has been tuned lightly: it still has the original rims but it did have a very thick huge exhaust pipe. Also the headlights were swapped and a few other cues have been changed. IMO done with taste! :)

DOTS: Nissan 200SX S14 end of winter

Just realized I haven’t posted the Nissan 200SX S14 for a while, so here are some recent pictures of this rustoseum:
Down on the street: Nissan 200SX S14 rustoseum

Yes, it is still there… And the car is getting a better stance every day since the tires are getting flatter and flatter…

Even people start using it to write dirty car graffiti on its rear window!

The winter time was very harsh for this car! It is rusting so badly I already start calling it a rustoseum…

DOTS: 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Last week I spotted a big Toyota parked near the office. A few hundred meters later I vaguely remembered what it was and returned to the spot. It was a Toyota FJ Cruiser:

When I saw the pictures on the net in 2006 and 2007 I always thought the FJ Cruiser was much bigger than this, in my memory it had at least the proportions of a Hummer H2. Well you can see it is actually smaller than the Volvo XC90 parked next to it!

Then after taking the second shot the crap-cam died on me again, so you will have to do with this shaken (but not stirred) shot of it:
Down on the Street: Toyota FJ Cruiser

I must say the FJ Cruiser surely has great looks! If I had to choose between the XC90, H2 and a FJ Cruiser I would certainly go for the FJ Cruiser! ;)
The only thing that would stop me was my wallet at the next gas station. :(

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 6)

I’m already at part six of the Miata Hunting features! This time it will be an all black edition, so get ready for three black Miatas/MX5s!
Black Mazda MX5 mk2 NB

This one was shot next to a horse riding school, so maybe a rich lady riding horses? Why not ride her 142 black horses then?

Black Mazda Miata mk1 NA

This black Miata was parked on my way to work. The neighborhood isn’t that good, so seeing this car kind of surprised me… The car is an American import and was imported over 10 years ago. It still looks great, so that was another surprise. ;)

This originally Dutch MX5 was parked about 200 meters away from the previous Miata (same neighborhood) on the same morning. Another surprise! I definitely had a busy morning still managed to get to work in time! ;)
