DOTS: doing it wrong with a Sunny N14!


This Nissan Sunny N14 was parked right next to my house and immediately caught my attention. Made a small U-turn (I was on my bike) and took a few pictures. Can you guess what is wrong with this Nissan Sunny?

Take good notice of the position of the steering wheel (yes, LHD).

And then compare it with this close-up picture:

You probably already guessed it: there is a Recaro seat in that Sunny and it is on the passenger side!
WTF?! You are doing it wrong! The driver should sit in the Recaro and the passenger on the normal seat! :D

BTW: both pictures were shot with my Helios 44-2 lens on f2.8, hence the big amount of bokeh.

DOTS: 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSi

Found this 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse mk2 parked a few blocks away a few weeks ago:

This Eclipse is a late type Eclipse and, as you can see, a bit tuned up. The wheels are Nissan GT-R Nismo lookalikes Work Emotions and just a tiny bit too small for the car but that doesn’t ruint the looks at all…

And at the rear it features a very small spoiler (edit: OEM spoiler) as well:

I must say that, apart from the wheels, the whole style looks well balanced.

DOTS: Mysterious old racecar

This mysterious old racecar wasn’t particularly Down on the Street, it was more or less on a roof:

I passed it several times when I went to work on a different route but never actually took the time to have a good look at it. It really looks like a small old racecar from the early 50s.

But this time I had a better look at it and brought along my camera. As you can see from this angle there is a figure sitting in it:

Eventhough I do think some original parts (e.g. shocks and such) were used it is probably a sculpture! ;)

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 12)


I just realized I almost skipped the Miata Hunt this month! :o

So here they are: a silver NB and two red NAs!

Yes, you read that right: 2009! When I looked it up I also had a big WTF…
I always look up info on the Dutch licenseplate registration, but that database contains weird things from time to time. My best guess is that the MX5 was registered in late 2006 (entries next to its registration show late 2006 as well) and when the car switched owners the record was wrongly updated in the database. However the NB was only produced till 2005, so there must have been some slow selling of the old stock due to the introduction of the new model. Still very confusing. :P

Another confusion was this 1991 red MX5 NA: it was parked about 10 meters from the spot normally another red Miata NA is parked!

The only reason I noticed was that this red NA is a MX5 and the other one is a Miata. Curious how I could make that difference so quickly? The Dutch law bides all domestic cars should have long plates, while import cars can have smaller plates if long plates do not fit (see also below). The MX5 clearly has the longer plates and that was quite unexpected when you pass the same car every day. ;)

Last but not least: another confusing Miata!

This one is another red Miata. You can see this one has smaller US-like plates.
First of all: this is about 500 meters from the one parked above, so I expected it to be the one that is normally parked at the spot in the picture above. It was not the same car, so that was another confusion…
Then when I was just about to leave I noticed the car was being used by some dad to pickup his son from cram-school. How cool is that?
