Picture of the Week: Datsun 180B sedan cutaway drawing

The Datsun 180B (Nissan Bluebird 810) is one of my favorite Nissans of all times: it is right between Nissan’s coke-bottle styling and the more serious and cooperate squared off designs of the 70s. So not surprisingly I printer this cutaway drawing of the Datsun 180B and put it up on the wall:

I do fancy the design of the Datsun 180B two door coupe a bit more but I can’t complain, can’t I?

Friday Video: Honda City Turbo II drifted by Nomuken

It’s Friday so here is another video to enjoy: Nomuken drifting a Honda City Turbo II!
Friday Video: Nomuken drifting a Honda City Turbo II
You can actually drift a Honda City Turbo II then? I thought they were front wheel drive!

Well yes you can: with a little bit of help from the handbrake and a Toyota Starlet Glanza V EP91 Turbo engine. The Honda City Turbo II also got the nickname bulldog, so does the Chihuahua refer back to the Toyota Starlet? Like a fancy dressed up hairless skinny bulldog?

Judge for yourself in the video: Continue reading

Family Album Treasures: The Toyota Celica GT family

In 1970 Toyota launched the all new Celica family with the high performance 2T-G engine and this car was also better known as the Toyota Celica GT.

Only in 1972 the GT lineup got extended with the “light weight” GTV (Gran Turismo Veloce) and the 18R-G powered 2 litre GT.

Todays Family Album Treasure is actually one of the first 2T-G powered GT models (so a Celica TA22) and you can recognize it by the location of the fuel filler location: Continue reading

Down on the Street: Honda Prelude MK5

Last week I bumped into this last generation Honda Prelude in an underground parking garage:
Down on the Street: Honda Prelude mk 5
Sorry for the mediocre photo quality, but camera phones, dim light and fluorescent lamps are not a good combo.
The prelude was parked there shortly before I entered the parking garage as the car was still wet from the rain above ground.

This last generation Honda Prelude is disappearing from the streets rapidly: Continue reading

Carina Sightings: 1994 Toyota Carina GT meeting

What would a Toyota Carina GT meeting look like in 1994? Well these photos were taken in 1994 at a Carina meeting somewhere in the Saitama Prefecture:
Carina Sightings: Toyota Carina GT meeting in 1994
All Carinas are GT models and all except one (RA45 18R-G) are 2T-G powered. How bizarre is that? I would say that’s pretty epic as the 2T-G versions of the third generation are now close to extinct!

The big lineup really looks great: Continue reading

Ebay Treasures: a Dutch Prince Skyline S50 on Ebay!

This really is an Ebay treasure: a genuine Dutch registered Prince Skyline S50! Yet again I received this via Japanse Klassieker group on Facebook, Roland Verheijen posted it on their page:
Ebay Treasures: Prince Skyline S50
I knew they have been sold in (small numbers) in the Netherlands but never had any hope one would turn up for sale once. Well, today one did turn up for sale and it really is a treasure!

Don’t have high hopes for this one as the body is very rusty: Continue reading
