Only a few days ago I posted the incredibly scary crash video of a Honda City. Lately, I haven’t been paying attention to the classic valuations of anything other than an AE86 or Carina A60. Understand my huge surprise when someone (Emin) sent a Honda City Turbo II for sale in Düsseldorf. The asking price? A mere 69,000 euros! (Or 74,000 dollars)
Okay, it’s one of the best City Turbo IIs on the market and has only driven 9000 kilometres. It’s completely bone stock and even features the original disk wheels.
It also features a white Honda Motocompo that you can stuff in the back. But is it worth 69K euros?
Finding a Honda City Turbo II locally
I looked to see if another City Turbo II was for sale in Europe and I did manage to find a Honda City Turbo II for sale in Switzerland. It looks nearly identical to the one for sale in Düsseldorf and costs about 35K Swiss francs (37K euros or 40K dollars). It does include a red Motocompo as well. Added bonus is the Mugen CF-48 wheels that make the Turbo II stand out even more! The downside is that this car isn’t new and already travelled 65K kilometres. But for a 1980s Honda that’s almost like new!
It’s about half the price and you could spend that other 32K on another fun car for your three-car garage!
Getting a Honda City Turbo from Japan
So what about getting one from Japan yourself? The first thing I did was search on Goo-net. I couldn’t find a City Turbo II for sale but this black City Turbo would also do nicely. It only travelled 23K kilometres, so consider this one also like new! It will set you back 15K euros (16K dollars) and with export, shipping and import duties it will probably cost somewhere between 20K and 25K.
Naturally, we still need to find a Motocompo to accompany the City Turbo. I found someone in France selling Motocompos like hotcakes and for 3200 euros you can get one shipped to your doorstep. I think a red one would fit very nicely with the black City Turbo and its red interior!
Combined that would set you back 28K euros in the worst-case scenario. That leaves about 41K euros to play and get some other interesting cars.
Conclusion
So what do you think? Is the Honda City Turbo II for sale in Düsseldorf heavily overpriced? Or is it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a brand-new Turbo II?
